One machine, several workspaces

Use when you have multiple repos on the same computer:
Each workspace has its own bound directory and agent defaults. The same daemon process serves the machine.

Several machines

Pair each computer separately from the app (scan a QR per gpr setup). Assign tasks to the workspace that has the right repo and tools. Examples:
  • Laptop for app code
  • Desktop for heavier builds
  • Always-on home server for long jobs

Affinity rules

  • A running task is pinned to one workspace / daemon.
  • Do not start a second host against the same task expecting it to continue.
  • If you replace a machine, finish or rerun tasks on the new workspace explicitly.

Keep hosts healthy

On each machine:
gpr update downloads the latest released daemon binary.

Concurrent tasks

Workspaces default to max_concurrent_tasks = 1. Raise it in workspace settings only if the machine can handle multiple agent processes and worktrees at once.
